The Canadian National Exhibition, or CNE, is an amazing event put on every year, lasting for almost 2 weeks and it showcases almost any interest anyone in your family would have. The CNE takes place at 210 Princes’ Blvd, and it will happen from August 16 to September 2, 2019. This event is great for everyone in the family because there is so much going on. If you’ve never visited the CNE, here’s what you can expect when visiting this year.
What you’ll see
At the CNE there’s an air show, animal exhibits, casinos, international performers and so much more. There’s live music shows, and walks and talks for you to participate in.
Rides and Games
There’s a tilt-a-whirl, a Ferris wheel and a zipper for anyone in your family who is an adrenaline or thrill seeker. While the Ferris wheel is pretty low-key and not at all scary, the zipper is slightly more terrifying and may not be for everyone. Some people who visit the CNE regularly would describe riding the zipper as a kind of rite of passage. Over the years, the zipper has developed its own kind of following and fans who regularly ride it during the exhibition.
Good Eats
What would an exhibition be without some really great food? When visiting the CNE you’ll be really impressed with the options for food you’ll have. One of the best parts of the exhibition, added in recent years, is the fact that there is a frenzy of food trucks parked along Princes Boulevard during the CNE every year. From brisket gourmet sandwiches to churros and lobster you will not be disappointed in the sheer number of options for eating. If you don’t plan to come to the CNE for anything other than food it will be time well spent for everyone who loves food.
Shopping
Along with good food to eat, there’s definitely some unique shopping available at the CNE every year. There are various arts, crafts and hobby vendors so you can find that exact niche item you’re looking for, plus you can support a small business in the process. Many vendors sell items they have made themselves so you know the product you’re purchasing isn’t mass produced and you’re getting a piece that is completely unique.
In addition to hobby vendors, the CNE has an At Home Pavilion that is 105,000 square feet of products you need for your home including services, appliances and personal care items. There are also items for home renovations and home improvements as well, just in case you’re looking for make some changes to your home.
Tickets to the Exhibition
An all ages admission, purchased prior to the CNE starting, is only $16 and that gives you access to all the shows and attractions put on during the exhibition. If you’d like a pass to be able to go on all the rides, the price increases to $41. The CNE is a local attraction that brings so much of the best of Canada right to your neighbourhood. This is an event everyone should experience at least once.
